Liana’s Dream Foundation (LDF) was founded by Franco Cianci and Caterina Monticciolo in 2013 after their daughter, Liana, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2011. LDF is a CRA registered charity aiming to raise funds to help researchers and institutions find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. We believe that transparency and accountability with our donors is imperative and essential to reaching our goal. We are determined to make Liana’s dream and the dream of many others for a cure become a reality.

Goal:

Our sole objective at Liana’s Dream is to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes as opposed to research aimed at testing better forms of insulin, needles, insulin pumps and glucose meters. We fund cure based research around the world for basic science and clinical trials. There is a large focus on research aimed at improving the disease with better technology, but there is a lack of research aimed at directly finding a cure.

What We Do:

LDF raises funds that support researchers and institutions in Canada, the USA and around the globe who are focused on cure-based research and who share our vision of a world where children and young adults like Liana can one day say: “I used to have diabetes”. We believe that in order to achieve our goal, we need to fulfill the researcher’s funding gap that we’ve discovered through our contact with renowned researchers. We are strong believers in worldwide collaboration; since the inception of our foundation, we instill collaboration amongst doctors and researchers around the world.
